Carmine Capital is advising the ID Casting Group, led by Laurent Monnier and backed by UI Investissement, on the acquisition of the micro-injection manufacturing company (S.I.M.I.). This strategic transaction strengthens the group’s expertise in the zamak market and accelerates its diversification.
ID Casting, a leading player of zamak pressure injection casting in national territory
Less than a year after restructuring its ownership around its management team, ID Casting is putting its growth strategy into action with the acquisition of S.I.M.I., a recognized specialist in zamak micro-injection based in the Doubs region.
Founded in 2001, ID Casting is one of the largest employers in the Arbois region and specializes in hot-chamber die casting for zinc alloys (zamak) and, in recent years, for magnesium alloys. With nearly 1,000 product references, its expertise ranges from the design to the manufacture of technical parts and subassemblies, from very small to large production runs, serving more than 300 major clients, particularly in the automotive, construction, and electronics sectors.
The group is now structured around four operating companies with a combined workforce of over 200 employees: Siobra (Jura – precision parts), AMI Fonderie (Essonne – construction and electrical/electronics), ID Components (Tunisia – automotive), and, most recently, S.I.M.I (Dampierre-les-Bois – micro-injection).
Since December 2024, the Group has been led operationally by Laurent Monnier (CEO) and his key managers, supported by UI Investissement, and generates revenue of nearly €25 million, 50% of which comes from international markets.
An obvious industrial synergy
Founded in 1986, S.I.M.I. brings valuable expertise in precision casting for large-scale production runs of technical micro-parts to the group. With revenue exceeding €4 million and an annual production of nearly 300 million parts, this acquisition enables ID Casting to expand its offerings into demanding sectors such as electronics, cosmetics, and consumer goods.
The new entity, which now generates nearly €25 million in revenue, is built on a strong industrial footprint (France and Tunisia) and local geographic complementarity in Franche-Comté, fostering synergies with a shared ecosystem of customers and suppliers.
This transaction demonstrates Carmine Capital’s ability to support its clients over the long term: after structuring the management buyout, the team leveraged its industry expertise to enable the ID Casting Group to quickly position itself as a strong candidate for the acquisition of S.I.M.I.
The transaction serves a dual purpose: to facilitate the succession at S.I.M.I., as desired by its founders Ilo Cariani and Jean-Pierre Bisoffi, and to diversify the ID Casting Group’s product offering toward high-tech components made from the zamak alloy, a material with which Laurent Monnier and his teams have long had extensive experience.
S.I.M.I. and its two co-founders, Ilo and Jean-Pierre, enjoy a reputation for excellence in their field among industry professionals and clients alike; it is a new challenge for the ID CASTING group and its new team to uphold this reputation, ensure a smooth transition, and grow the business.
