On April 2, several hundred executives, decision-makers, and economic leaders gathered in Paris for a day unlike any other. No corporate gala, no formulaic speeches: the European ETI Summit—of which Carmine Capital is an official partner for this inaugural edition—brought together those who quietly drive the European economy: the leaders of mid-market companies. Finally giving them a platform worthy of the challenges they face!
The day was opened by Michel Barnier, former Prime Minister and chief Brexit negotiator, alongside Virginie Calmels (CroissancePlus) and Philippe d’Ornano (Sisley, METI), setting the tone: that of leaders who embrace their responsibilities and do not shy away from the big questions.
Because there were certainly some big questions on the table. How can mid-sized companies play a significant role in Europe’s economic revival? How can they free their growth from an excess of regulations? How can family-owned businesses—those often-overlooked pillars of the continent’s economy—restructure themselves without compromising their values? Eight roundtable discussions took place throughout the day, covering topics ranging from decarbonization and talent to innovation and internationalization. On stage, a diverse array of speakers included Elizabeth Ducottet (Thuasne), Xavier Bertrand (President of the Hauts-de-France Regional Council), and Paolo Benassi (Amorino). Entrepreneurs, elected officials, and experts engaged in discussions that were both practical and strategic.
What stands out about this format is precisely what the event refused to be: a showcase. The European ETI Summit is a space for collective reflection, where leaders come not so much to seek ready-made answers as to test their convictions against those of their peers. This is exactly the approach Carmine Capital champions every day: that of a consulting firm that supports, questions, and never pretends that growth happens on its own.
The evening concluded with the presentation of the ETI Awards, recognizing the highest-performing, most European, and most dynamic companies, including Manutan, Seche Environnement, Tikehau Capital, and European Digital Group. It was a wonderful reminder that behind every award-winning ETI lies difficult decisions made at the right time—and, often, a consulting team that has supported them every step of the way.
